The Skagen painter Ninus Simonsen was found dead yesterday, Saturday 10. July 1909 in his studio.

He was found in a pool of blood, froth and vomit by his friend Michael Ancher. The studio was locked from the inside, but initial investigations suggest that a crime may have been committed, as Ninus Simonsen was found with a wound from a heavy blow to the back of the head.

According to Michael Ancher, Ninus’ spouse, Pauline Simonsen and the maid Miss Klara left Skagen on Friday, and efforts are underway to find them.

You are deployed as an investigation unit from the Frederikshavn Police District and arrive on the morning train to Skagen Station to take charge of the investigation.

On your way around the city, you’ll meet a number of contemporary artists and leading citizens of the city, all of whom must be interrogated to find out how Ninus died.

At the station, you’ll be met by Constable Sofus Madsen, who will assist you in questioning the town’s merchants, health personnel and, of course, a number of the artists who have their work here in Skagen.

Under normal circumstances, Madsen is responsible for ensuring law and order for Skagen’s approximately 3,000 permanent residents, operating from a police office in a side building to the private residence opposite the courthouse.

Fortunately, serious crimes are very rare in this city, as it is common knowledge that Madsen prefers to work from home. He is therefore best known as ‘Sofa Madsen’, both within and outside the police force.

But how could Ninus be killed in his studio when the door was locked from the inside, and who killed him?

Gather your strongest investigative team and solve the murder in the locked room.
