Work has been underway since July 7, 1637, when Christian IV personally laid the first boulder for the foundation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After several interruptions, construction is finally underway again. It almost feels like the tower is cursed. Bricklayers Mads S\u00f8rensen and Otto Hansen fall from the top of the scaffolding together with fellow bricklayer Konrad Lauridsen. Mads S\u00f8rensen dies instantly and Konrad Lauridsen breaks his neck in the fall. Their lifeless bodies lie on the hard cobblestones.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While most people are paralyzed with shock, young kitchen maid Sidsel Pedersdatter reacts quickly. She is in love with Otto and rushes to him.
